Vallejo residents have an opportunity to watch native son and former North Vallejo Little Leaguer CC Sabathia pitch in the first game of the World Series today on the big screen of the Empress Theater.

There are 400 free tickets available that must be acquired in advance for the first game between Sabathia's New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The pre-game festivities at the theater at 300 Virginia St. in Vallejo include a red carpet entrance for attendees at 4:30 p.m., opening remarks and the National Anthem. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

The North Vallejo Little League, where Sabathia pitched, is hosting the event. Tickets are available on at www.nvllbaseball.org and at www.empresstheater.org.

Hot dogs, peanuts, beer and wine will be available at the theater.
